3.7V 4.2V Lithium Li-ion 18650 Battery Charger and Discharge Module connection

Setup Instructions:

Connection:

  1. Connect the positive terminal of the Li-ion/LiPo battery to the BAT+ pin.
  2. Connect the negative terminal of the battery to the BAT- pin.
  3. For charging, connect a 5V power source to either the USB port or IN+/IN- terminals.
  4. Connect your load to the OUT+/OUT- terminals for boosted voltage output.

Operation:

  1. Insert a compatible single-cell lithium battery.
  2. Connect a power source to either USB or IN terminals for charging.
  3. The charge LED will illuminate during charging and turn off when complete.
  4. Adjust the output voltage using the onboard potentiometer.
  5. Connect your load to the OUT terminals to utilize the boosted voltage.

Caution:

  • Always ensure correct battery polarity to prevent damage.
  • Do not connect power to both USB and IN terminals simultaneously.
  • A suitable LiPo battery must be connected for proper operation of the boost converter.
  • Do not exceed the maximum current ratings for charging and discharging.
  • Use in a well-ventilated area and avoid extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting Tips:

  1. No LED indicators: Check power connections and battery insertion.
  2. Slow charging: Ensure the power supply can provide sufficient current (up to 1A).
  3. No boost output: Verify battery connection and charge level.
  4. Unexpected output voltage: Readjust the potentiometer for the desired voltage.
  5. Overheating: Check for short circuits and reduce load if necessary.

FAQs:

  1. Q: Can this module charge multiple batteries simultaneously?A: No, it’s designed to charge one single-cell battery at a time.
  2. Q: Is it possible to use the boost converter without a battery connected?A: No, a suitable LiPo battery must be connected for proper operation.
  3. Q: Can I use this module with a solar panel?A: Yes, you can connect a 5V solar panel to the VIN+ terminal for charging.
  4. Q: What’s the maximum output current at different voltages?A: The module can supply 1.4A at 5V, 0.8A at 9V, and 0.6A at 12V.
  5. Q: Can this module be used for battery capacity testing?A: While not its primary function, it can be used for basic capacity testing by monitoring discharge time at a known current.
